Focusing on three major parts of the body; Shoulders, Back, and Hips/Legs, this class aims to help achieve the flexibility that is desirable in performance athletics, whether that be Circus Arts, Gymnastics/Acro, Dance and any other numerous performance based aesthetic athletics.
This flexibility class focuses mostly on two types of stretching, static and dynamic. In static stretching, muscles are lengthened through specific controlled positions, whereas in dynamic stretching, a speedier movement is used so the agonist muscle contracts and therefore lengthens the antagonist muscle, increasing the body part’s range of motion.
As these classes are fairly short, a full body stretch is not viable. Therefore, students are encouraged to take the techniques that they learn in class and apply them regularly if they want to increase their flexibility successfully.
